We welcome the opportunity to consider you as a candidate for Cal/West Educators Placement. Before submitting your resume, please think about:
Basic Candidate Qualifications
- Relevant, recent experience or education for the position for which you are applying.
- A Bachelor's Degree.
- An Elementary Teaching Credential (from any state) for elementary classroom positions. A credential is not necessary for middle and upper school positions, but thorough subject-area knowledge is.
- A graduate degree is beneficial and sometimes required.
- Experience with students and young people is valuable.
- Independent or Private School experience is beneficial, but not required.
- Candidates of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
- Candidates currently living outside of the western states must have a willingness to travel for in-person interviews with schools.
- International candidates must have U.S. citizenship, a Green Card, family sponsorship, or other prior authorization to work in the United States. We are generally unable to assist candidates who require employer sponsorship in order to obtain a work visa.
- We usually cannot consider applicants without experience or preparation as educators.
- Some "associate/assistant/intern" positions are available for beginning teachers who are enrolled in a teacher education program or have other relevant experience working with young people.
Preliminary Steps
In order to effectively decide whether we will be able to assist you in the job seeking process there are a few essential steps:
- E-mail a short cover letter addressed to Cal/West Educators and a one to two page resume to: resume@CalWestEducators.com. Your resume should be saved as a Microsoft Word or Word for PC file with no tables. Please try to include your name as part of the file name and do not "zip" or compress your file. The best file types are .doc, .docx, or .pdf.
- If we feel we will be able to assist you in securing a position, we will contact you within one week and ask you to complete our full online application.
- After our review of your application, you will be contacted by a Cal/West team member who will schedule an interview for you with a recruitment specialist, either in person or by telephone.
- If you are accepted as a Cal/West candidate, we will prepare a professional portfolio representing your complete background and qualification and will present you as a candidate for any appropriate teaching or administrative positions.
- Unfortunately, we cannot accept all applicants who wish to represented by Cal/West. Our goal is to successfully place each one of our candidates. To do this effectively, we work closely with a group of schools that regularly inform us of their current and future openings. When considering an applicant, if we do not anticipate having positions that match specific qualifications, experience, and/or geographic preferences we will suggest that the individual search for a position on their own.
- Following your acceptance, there is a one-time Application Processing Fee of $35. This fee is waived for current students.
- Should you have questions or concerns please call (818) 906-2972 , 8 am - 6 pm Pacific Time, to speak directly to a Cal/West Educators Placement team member.
Blocked E-mail
We frequently send e-mails to our candidates. Many e-mail providers block messages, thinking that they are "spam." If you use AOL, Hotmail, Yahoo, or if your e-mail system has any type of Spam Blocker, it is important that you take steps to ensure that our messages reach you:
- If your program has an option where you can list senders who are always to be allowed to send you messages, be sure to add "placement@CalWestEducators.com" to that list. Various systems call this a White List, Friend's List, People I Know, Safe List, or something similar.
- If your system allows you to add a "domain," add "calwesteducators.com".
- Add our e-mail address to your Address Book (sometimes called Contacts or Friends).
